Akinlade Takes Over as Perm. Sec., Mining Ministry

Akinlade Takes Over as Perm. Sec. in Mining Ministry

Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade has taken over at Ministry of Mines and Steel Development as the Permanent Secretary from her predecessor, Mr Edet  Akpan,  who has been posted to Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the official taking-over ceremony which took place today at the Ministry ‘s Conference Room, Abuja, Akinlade stated that the mandate of Ministry of Mines and Steel Development was very clear and work to accomplish it is daunting but noted that the good foundation laid by her predecessor , with team work and cooperation, it can be achieved.

‘’I am confident, from what I have heard, with your support and co-operation, we build on the good foundation laid to move the Ministry higher.’’

She noted that evidence abound that the Ministry is blessed with focussed and diligent leadership, saying that she is confidence, with the crop of astute management staff, the mandate of the ministry will be accomplished.

Earlier, the out-going Permanent Secretary, Mr. Edet Akpan, expressed gratitude to the Ministers, Directors and heads of agencies under the ministry for their support and cooperation to achieve the successes recorded.

He said the Mining Sector has the potential to take over from the oil sector in revenue earning but said cordial working relationship and team work is required to accomplish it; saying that not too long, the country will be one of the greatest mining nations.

He enjoined the Directors and other staff of the ministry to accord the in-coming Permanent Secretary same support and cooperation they accorded him.
