SABRE 2022: APRA Celebrates African Day with Fashion Parades in Tanzania (PICTURES)
In commemoration of Africa Day 2022, the organiser of SABRE PR Awards, Provoke Media in collaboration with the African Public Relations Association (APRA) hosted PR practitioners to a special event at Hyatt Regency Hotel Kilimanjaro, Dar Es Salam Tanzania.
PRNigeria reports that the colourful event which coincided with the 2022 SABRE African Awards also featured African cultural performances including fashion Parades, Music and Dance.
Participants at the event are mostly delegates attending the annual African Public Relations Conference taking place in Tanzania with the theme: “Africa’s Resilience and Global Competitiveness.”
Africa Day is celebrated on 25 May annually to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (now known as the African Union) in 1963 to fight colonialism in Africa and apartheid in South Africa.
The year 2022 signifies the 20th anniversary of the African Union. The theme of the Africa day celebration for 2022 is Nutrition, and the aim of AU is to strengthen the Agro-Food Systems, Health and Social Protection Systems to Accelerate Human, Social, and Economic Capital Development on the African Continent.
The festival is about proudly celebrating the African culture by leveraging on major activities and promoting diversity and inclusion in the continent.
Meanwhile the night event also witnessed the presentations of trophies and certificates of excellence for outstanding African PR campaigns. The awards were presented to the PR agencies and their clients.

Other agencies bagged Certificates of Excellence in PR. The winners include African Media Agency, BSD Group, Tribeca Public Relations, Modion Communications, So.Me Solution, AT3 Resources, Zethical, Tim-Sky Media Services.
Others are Blanche Aigle Communications, Chenist Communications, Pixel Render, Hollard Ghana, DMA Media, LSF/PR, MSL, Integrated Indigo, RED Media.
Meanwhile several organisation in the public and private sectors also named in the categories of the awards received by their PR agencies. Prominent in the list of awardees in the public sectors are National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Lagos State Government (LASG) and Kenya Ports Authority.
The non-governmental awardees are Mastercard Foundation, Jack Ma Foundation, Institute for Economics & Peace, Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and European External Action Service (EEAS).
In the technology and financial sector, the winners included Meta, Vodacom, MTN, Airtel, Safaricom, 9Mobile, TikTok, ZOLA Electric, Microsoft, WEMA Bank, Access Bank, AfrAsia Bank, Visa, NCBA Group, Warner Media and IPSOS Kenya
Some product and manufacturing giants are also SABRE award recipients. They include Unilever, Pfizer, Roche Africa, African Breweries, Tiger Brand Limited, Phoenix Beverages, Coca Cola and Nissan South Africa.
Similarly other service providers listed among the recipients of Certificate of Excellence are: FlySafair, Qatar Airways, OMNIA Holding, Afrilabs, Adams & Adams and MTV Base.
