Fact-Check: Did Tanzanian Woman Develop Cow Tail, Legs over Adultery

Claim: A video going viral on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok claimed that a Tanzanian woman developed a cow tail and legs for committing adultery.

Full Text:

The video has been shared on major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok.

In the now-viral footage, a woman with cow legs and a tail is seen pleading for aid on the ground while being surrounded by a crowd of female onlookers.

The footage was first released by a Tanzanian gossip blog, but there was little report to back up whether the woman genuinely transformed into a cow or if it was just a make-up job for a movie.

Verification:

PRNigeria ran a keyword search of the terms on google and search result did not link the video to any credible Tanzanian media organization.

The video was first shared by Tanzanian gossip blog @tanzania_gossip which no longer exist on Twitter.

The claim was mostly by blogs such as Queenmother Gist tv. Some other blogs that reported it used the term, “unconfirmed,” and “rumours.”

However, the video has got social media talking as people are quite sceptical of the authenticity of the video. A sizeable number of people think that this is just a made-up story.

Critics quickly noticed the uncanny resemblance that is apparent in this video and the other video which went viral.

Some other commentators observed that the footage may have been dramatised with her legs buried in the ground.

Other commentators who think it is just a sensation to build up online content argued that the clip shown did not display where the legs join to her thighs, and how despite putting on a long gown, a tail was hanging out from nowhere, which made it all look like a hoax.

Verdict Conclusion:

The footage which was mostly shared on gossip blogs with unverified sources does not have enough evidence to prove the claim right.
