Fact-Check: Did Aliens from Outer Planet Invade Katsina City

Claim: There was a widely circulated video on Social Media claiming that some unusual creatures, also known as aliens, had invaded Katsina, a state in the northern part of Nigeria.

Full-Text: A footage went viral on social media including WhatsApp and Facebook where an unusual creature claimed to be an alien from another planet landed in Katsina state.

The video was accompanied by a background description in Hausa dialect saying; “From God we came and unto Him we are returning. We just sighted the arrival of an alien from the Mars planet that landed in Katsina state along a ring road that will link you up to Dutsen Safe.

“May God protect the people of Katsina state. These aliens have kept on invading as this is the third time we are witnessing their arrival.”

According to the background voice, the abnormal creature had since invaded Katsina city.

The post which continued to draw people’s attention has so far attracted more than 65,000 Views, 1000 Likes, 300 Comments and 600 Shares on Facebook.

Meanwhile, PRNigeria has also observed that the pictures of other unusual creatures have continued to surface across Facebook pages and claimed to be aliens.

According to another Facebook page, named;  Credit.ng Hausa, the creatures (aliens) had already made contact with people in Damaturu, the capital city of Yobe State and they would.soon reach Maiduguri among other states in Northern Nigeria.

Verification: An Investigation by PRNigeria led to a YouTube channel ‘JJPD Productions’ that had shared the original video with the description, “Criatura Gigante captada cerca de un lago 2019.”

The video was first published by JJPD Productions on February 27, 2019 and it has generated 1.7 million views and 17k likes.

An investigation reveals that the JJPD Producciones Channel is owned by a group of Nicaraguan Computer Graphics Professionals who are producing commercials and vignettes for TV.

They were the ones who first prouduced visuals of the “creatures” now being circulated on Nigerian social mediasphere as aliens visiting from another planet.

Meanwhile the Katsina State Police Command has debunked the rumors of the appearance of unusual creatures/aliens in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, and made available to newsmen in Katsina.

He described the evil development as a malicious attempt aimed at heightenning public tension aimed at creating public disorders.

The PPRO, therefore, urged the public not to panic and disregard the fake video and its malicious content.

Conclusion: Fact gathered by PRNigeria revealed that no aliens landed in Katsina as being widely circulated. The visuals being circulated are video animations produced by “JJPD Producciones Channel” a Nicaraguan Computer Graphics Professionals who are producing commercials and vignettes for TV.

PRNigeria therefore concludes that the claim that aliens have invaded Katsina state as widely circulated in the viral video is misleading and FALSE.
