Gen Chibuisi Commences Familiarization of MNJTF Sectors as Force Commander

The Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Maj Gen GU Chibuisi on Monday 24 April 2023 paid a familiarization visit to Sector 2 MNJTF Bagasola Chad. He was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Force Commander (DFC) Brig Gen Assoualai Blama and other senior officers. After the formal welcome ceremony, the Commander Sector 2 MNJTF Brig Gen Youssouf Mahamat Itno led the visiting FC to the conference room where he received a brief covering operational activities, achievements and challenges.

2. In his remarks, the FC expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and commended the troops for their commitment towards ending insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region. He urged the Sector not to relent in its efforts noting that the massive surrender of BH/ISWAP Terrorists and their families which has also reflected in enhanced social and economic activities signify an end in sight of terrorists activities in the Lake Chad Basin region. Speaking further, the FC stated that the MNJTF will not rest on its oars in order to bring total peace to the region. The Sector Commander thanked the FC for the visit and promised to continue activities geared towards the realization of the MNJTF’s mandate.

3. Similarly, the FC MNJTF Maj Gen GU Chibuisi also paid a familiarisation visit to Sector 4 MNJTF Diffa (Niger). He was received on arrival by the Commander Sector 4 Col Maj Mamman Sani Kiaou and was adequately briefed on the activities of the Sector.
The FC remarked that the Sector has performed creditably well and applauded the Sector’s efforts in degrading the capability of the terrorists in the area. He commended the standard of discipline of troops of the Sector which he said was evidenced in the glaring operational achievements recorded by the Sector. He further urged them to sustain the tempo until the insurgents were completely routed out of the Lake Chad Basin region. He praised troops of the Sector for being Professional and responsive in discharging their duties and assured them of the continuous support of the MNJTF.

4. Earlier, the Commander Sector 4 Col Maj Mamman Sani Kiaou congratulated the FC on his appointment and expressed delight receiving him. He said the visit has encouraged them to do more in the quest to end the activities of terrorists in the Lake Chad Basin region. He added that the Sector will not spare any efforts at bringing total peace to the region.

While in Diffa, the FC Maj Gen GU Chibuisi visited the US Army Camp where he appreciated the US Army for its strategic partnership towards the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region. He asked for more cooperation and collaboration that will lead to the final clampdown on the terrorists. Captain Ney of the US Army camp in Diffa appreciated the FC for the visit and emphasized the need to work together to bring an end to terrorists activities in the area.
The FC also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Diffa region His Excellency Smaine Younousse. In his remarks, Mr Younousse congratulated the FC on his appointment saying it was a well deserved one. He urged the FC to use his wealth of experience in the ongoing fight against insurgency. Earlier, the FC said he embarked on the visit across the sectors to familiarize himself with the situation on the ground. The FC thanked the Governor for his continuous support to Sector 4 MNJTF. He implored him to continue providing the necessary support needed to succeed in the fight against the insurgents.
