How PRNigeria‘s Fact Checks Influenced Customs’ Social Media Engagements – CG Adeniyi

The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on Tuesday, commended PRNigeria for its regular publication of authoritative fact check reports.

Adewale Adeniyi, gave the commendation at the Abuja office of PRNigeria, when he visited the media cum public relations firm.

According to the Customs helmsman, the culture of publishing fact-check new stories by PRNigeria has greatly influenced the social media activities of several organisations, including their NCS.

He said: “Now people know that you cannot just post a WhatsApp video online and expect that everybody will believe it’s accurate.

“You have given us the opportunity to fact check. And not only that, we are also promoting that culture among our social media followers. It’s not just about accepting what you see posted on the internet”.

Mr. Bashir Adewale further hailed PRNigeria, a sister tabloid of Economic Confidential, also published by the Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR) Limited, for breaking new grounds in strategic communication, while also providing avenue for young communicators and budding PR experts to showcase their talents, with a view to developing their professional careers.

“In terms of crisis and strategic communication, we know your reputation, which is world class. Kudos to you and your team for revolutionizing fact checking as a genre of media reportage.

“Your fact check reports have somewhat influenced how organisations like ours engage with our followers on social media. Let me also add that I follow your Economic Confidential and Politics Digest’s contents, which are quite informative and authoritative,” he said.

The Customs Acting CG, while expressing gratitude for the warm reception accorded his entourage, pledged the NCS’ collaboration with PRNigeria.

His words: “I guess I should have made my relationship with PRNigeria an integral part of my PR strategy.

“You know, there is no PR practitioner that knows it all, and if you are talking about an award-winning master strategist, the name of Alhaji Yushau Shuaib readily comes to mind.

“Indeed, there are a lot of things we can learn from him, and there are also a lot we can benefit from working together, as mutual partners in progress.”

Earlier in his presentation, Mallam Shuaib, the Editor-in-Chief of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, commended the Customs’ Chief for visiting their office, saying that CG Adeniyi has left no one in doubt of his commitment to changing the narrative of the NCS, since his appointment as Customs’ boss.

“You have started well, and Nigerians can attest to the fact that your leadership at the Nigeria Customs has so far been transformational and service-oriented.

“Our organisations, but yours in particular, stands to gain tremendously, by the time our collaboration becomes official and starts yielding fruits,” he said.
