Lagbaja, Musa, Zulum, others Welcome Tinubu to Maiduguri for Army Chief Conference

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, for the chief of army staff annual conference.

The event commenced on December 10 and will end on December 16. It is holding at the Major General MSA Aliyu Hall, the command guest house in the state.

The president arrived at the Air Force base on Monday morning and was welcomed by Taoreed Lagbaja, chief of army staff; Abubakar Badaru, the minister of defence; Babagana Zulum, governor of the state; Ali Ndume, a senator; Ali Modu Sheriff,  a former governor of Borno, among other dignitaries.

The conference with the theme: ‘Personnel motivation for effective operational performance in joint environment’ would discuss how best to improve the working conditions of officers of the Nigerian army.

“The Conference would also create an opportunity for the COAS to have face-to-face interaction with the general officers commanding, field commanders and other senior officers to provide requisite guidance on enhancing NA operations and activities,” a statement by the army reads.

Tinubu is also expected to launch 100 buses including 50 electric vehicles procured by the Borno state government to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy.

PRNigeria reports that the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu announced the details of the opening ceremony.

A speech to the soldiers of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, a tour of the ongoing Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Maiduguri, and the ceremonial cornerstone-laying for Headquarters 7 Division are all scheduled for the occasion.

These activities will be carried out by the special guest of honour.
