National Security Strategy NSS 2014

 

The Office of the National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), produced the first National Security Strategy NSS 2014 to guide, organise, and harmonise national security policies and efforts. It recognised that Nigeria faced many security challenges, some peculiar to the country, while others were cross-border or transnational. Here are some key points from the strategy:

The National Security Strategy produced by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan called for multi-sectoral cooperation, both domestically and internationally. It aimed to leverage Nigeria’s talents and resources to meet its obligations and pursue the social contract between the government and the people.

The 2014 National Security Strategy recognised the importance of comprehensively addressing security challenges, including terrorist threats and potential catastrophic events. It underscored the need for collective consciousness, readiness, and cooperation to protect and defend the Nigerian state and its people.
