Troops Kill 572 Terrorists, Nab 790 Others in One Month – DHQ
The Defence Headquarters said military troops have neutralized 572 terrorists, arrested 790 suspected terrorists and other criminal elements, and rescued 479 kidnapped hostages in July 2024.
In a statement, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed today while giving account of the military operations against terrorism and insecurity across Nigeria.
General Buba said despite the challenges posed toby the ongoing protests, which were hijacked and turned violent in some parts of the country, the military has tightened security in several areas to maintain stability.

He said: “Unfortunately, a female suicide bomber attacked Kawuri Village in Borno State on July 31, resulting in 17 civilian deaths and several injuries.
“The military’s operations have yielded impressive results, with the recovery of 440 weapons, 10,589 ammunitions, and the denial of oil theft worth an estimated N3.65 billion.
The breakdown of recoveries includes 232 AK47 rifles, 93 locally fabricated guns, and various other weapons and ammunition.”
Major General Buba emphasized the military’s commitment to defending the country and protecting citizens, urging the public not to compromise on security.
He noted that the military remains strong and dedicated to its mission, and citizens are encouraged to cooperate with security agencies to ensure the safety of all.
