    Borno: Zulum constitutes committee to review ban on metal scavenging

    Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the constitution of a committee to review the ban on the activities of metal scavengers in the state.

    Governor Zulum had imposed a ban on the activities of the metal scavengers in July 2023, primarily to protect them from being killed by Boko Haram insurgents.

    The statement released on Saturday by the governor’s SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, noted that the committee comprises the following persons.

    The statement noted that despite other negative things associated with the scavenging activities in Borno State, Zulum, however, for the numerous livelihood it provided for the youth, approved this committee to devise a framework that would sanitise the scavenging business.
