Police Boss Approves Compensation for Officers in Kano Accident

The Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has approved immediate financial relief for families of officers involved in a tragic motor accident on September 24, 2024.

The accident, which occurred on the Zaria-Kano Expressway in Karfi Kura, claimed the lives of five officers returning from special duty during the Edo elections.

Additionally, 11 officers sustained injuries, with three still hospitalized and eight having been discharged after treatment.

In a gesture of support, according Police spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP has allocated Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) to the families of the deceased officers. For those still receiving medical treatment, a payment of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) has been approved, while officers who have been discharged will receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) each.

The Inspector-General expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the accident and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel and their families during difficult times. He also urged a swift recovery for the injured officers.

This decision underlines the force’s dedication to supporting its members and ensuring they receive the necessary assistance in times of personal tragedy.
