Appointing someone as Mallam Nuhu Ribadu who has been incorruptible throughout his service years to head a national security organization is crucial for several reasons. As an incorruptible leader he is fostering trust and credibility among the public, security organizations and government. This trust and credibility are essential for effective security operation and this is what is translating recently with historic triumph recorded. His integrity and accountability help maintain the highest ethical standards, ensuring accountability within the security organizations, promoting a culture of integrity and professionalism and his unbiased decision making, free from personal gain or external influences, ensures security decisions are prioritize based on national or public interest. In security organizations corruption can compromise national safely and this is what we’re experiencing for many years, Ribadu who is appointed recently is safeguarding us against security breach and threats with eliminating of high-profile financier and international collaborator. This September alone eleven of top most feared bandits responsible for terrorizing communities across Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna state has been decimated by Nigerian forces. Halilu Buzu who was from Niger Republic, resided in a forest in Zamfara, and often escaped to his country after operating in Nigeria. He was said to have owned a thriving illegal gold mining site in Bagega and other communities around Sumke forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara. This is a major victory in fight against banditry as Halilu was the most notorious of all the bandit-warlords, he is less popular, but more dangerous than all his famous associates, Bello Turji was his good son.
Halilu was highly intelligent, mostly recognized by the underworld, security operatives and immediate communities, where he operates. There was a speculation that about 85 major bandit camps across the Northwest, and Halilu greatly influenced and controlled over 46 bandit camps, mostly in Zamfara and the neighboring states of Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Katsina and Kebbi. Other notable notorious bandits leader killed include Kachalla Makore who operates unhindered for many years in Zamfara state. Also a notorious commander, Kachalla Sharme, has been killed in Kaduna State. Sharme’s gang was responsible for numerous attacks, killings, and kidnappings in Kaduna and neighboring states, including the July 5, 2021, abduction of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kujama. TikToker Baleri Fakai, a notorious bandit leader has met his waterloo as troops of the Nigerian Army have succeeded in killing him. He is among thirty (30) bandits who were neutralized recently in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Sani Black, a notorious bandit leader, has reportedly been killed by vigilantes, with support by the military. He infamous for leading deadly attacks, abductions, and sexual violence across northern Zamfara. Dogo Rabe, a notorious bandit leader in Zamfara, bombed by Nigerian Air Force in his hideout during an early morning strike. Rabe had been responsible for numerous attacks on rural communities, particularly focusing on kidnapping for ransom. Two notorious terrorist leader Sani Wala Burki and Dan Kundu terrorizing Katsina state has been also decimated. All this success recorded comes at the heal of the time which virtually all parts of Nigeria are battling one form or another violent crime. Insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and secessionist violence are pushing Nigeria towards the brink of collapse under the previous administration. Armed banditry had gained control over our highways, community killings, genocide and banditry continued unabatedly in villages and cities. Villages were invaded almost daily, and people were taken even when those who had been abducted were still being held captivity. All these shenanigans are happening at the helms of former military general which strength of his campaign promise is to tackle insecurity. NSA Mallam Nuhu is turning around the fortunes of this country plagued by bandits and terrorists. He has conducted a thorough analysis of the security situation without making any noise, identifying hotspots, patterns and engagements with appropriate stakeholders. In a short term he has establish a centralized command center to coordinate security operations and ensure real-time intelligence sharing and launch targeted operations to disrupt and dismantle bandits and terrorist networks. Slowly and surely Mallam is building a robust and accountable security sector, with increase public trust in security forces. Liberation of our highways and forests from the clutches of death and agony, are happening sooner than expected, from bandits audacious Tik Tok videos to being on the run, very soon we will celebrate and move to post banditry strategy, short- and long-term goals. At this Juncture I commend the president for being true to his principles despite commotion and criticism the appointment generated. This appointment is not only the best, but a pillar of support to the president.
Finally, the government should establish a research and development fund that will provide funding for researchers in tech companies to develop innovative solutions, that will foster collaboration between government, tech companies and experts more especially in drone’s technologies. There are no fields of human endeavor across the world that Nigerians has not excelled.
When time to stay tall, count on our continue support always. Barkama Mallam
