Kado Residents Urge FCT Minister to Address Water Scarcity Crisis
Residents of Kado Housing Estate (Phases 1 and 2) have made a heartfelt appeal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, seeking urgent intervention to resolve a severe water scarcity issue that has persisted for over two months.
Under the Kado Estate Residents Association (KERA), they said that despite repeated complaints to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Water Board, residents have faced a lack of response, prompting this public appeal. The ongoing water shortage poses significant health risks due to inadequate sanitary conditions in the estate, making immediate action imperative.

In a statement by KERA Spokesperson, Dr. James Odaudu and Secretary, Est. Surv. Kola Olayode, they said that the water crisis began in early November, following an announcement of a planned two-day disruption in supply for pipeline maintenance. Since that time, many areas within the estate have been left without water, with only a few households experiencing sporadic drops from their taps during late night hours.
Rumors suggest that the main water lines serving Kado Estate may have been redirected to supply other neighborhoods in the Jahi district, allegedly inhabited by influential individuals. However, the residents have been unable to verify these claims, while the indifferent attitude of the water authorities has compounded the situation.
As the holiday season approaches, the residents of Kado Estate find themselves struggling to transport water across the city, a stark contrast to the festivities that should bring joy and relaxation with family and friends.
In light of these pressing concerns, the citizens of Kado are earnestly imploring the Honourable Minister for prompt action to rectify this situation, ensuring that his noteworthy efforts to advance the development of the capital city are not undermined by the inefficiencies of lower authorities.
