FCT Police Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims, Nab Masterminds of General Uwen’s Murder

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, rescuing six kidnap victims, arresting 10 suspects linked to robbery and murder, and recovering weapons and stolen vehicles in a series of coordinated operations across Abuja, PRNigeria reports.

On March 6, 2025, at about 12:30 p.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rubochi Division received a distress call from the Commander of the Munu Unit Vigilante Group regarding an attack on a group of wood operators working on a farm in Rubochi, Kuje Area Council. Armed assailants had stormed the farm and abducted six workers, taking them into the nearby bush. A combined team of police operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters swiftly mobilized, blocked escape routes, and successfully rescued all six victims unharmed.

The rescued individuals, according to Zagazola were identified as Ayuba Naroka, Joseph David, Timothy Paul, Moses Zubairu, Miracle Shandon, and Joseph Musa. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.

In a separate operation, the FCT Police arrested a suspected “One Chance” robber, Alfa John, who posed as a military officer to rob a female passenger in Abuja. The incident occurred on February 25, 2025, when the victim boarded a commercial Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. LKJ 467 TW) at Wuse 2, heading to Gwarinpa. The driver diverted to a secluded area in Dawaki, threatened the victim, and robbed her of an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Police operatives tracked down the suspect and recovered the stolen phone, along with a Motorola Walkie-Talkie. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

On March 7, 2025, the FCT Police arrested seven suspects and recovered a locally made pistol, one cartridge, AK-47 rifle ammunition, and other incriminating items during a raid in Phase 4, Unguwar Fulani, Jikwoyi. The operation was conducted based on actionable intelligence regarding an unusual gathering of youths in the area. The suspects are currently being interrogated, and the SCID has taken over the investigation.

In another breakthrough, the police recovered a stolen Lexus 460 SUV (Reg. No. KWL 403 CM) on March 6, 2025, less than an hour after it was snatched at gunpoint from a motorist in River Park Estate. The suspects escaped into the bush after a gun duel with police operatives, but the vehicle was successfully recovered.

Tragically, a staff member of the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria (IHVN), Meshach Thomas Panwal, was found dead in his hotel room at Grand Pella Hotel, Durumi, on March 7, 2025. The deceased, who had complained of a headache the previous day, was discovered by his colleagues. No marks of violence were found on his body, and his death has been classified as Sudden and Unnatural Death (SUD) pending further medical certification.

In a major development, the FCT Police arrested two suspects linked to the murder of Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere, who was assassinated at his residence in Lokogoma on January 23, 2024. The suspects, Alkasim Mohammed (18) and Suleiman Abdullahi (22), were apprehended during a coordinated operation in Durumi Phase 2. Police recovered a Beretta pistol and 11 rounds of 9mm live ammunition. The suspects confessed to being part of a notorious gang responsible for multiple high-profile crimes, including the murder of a Bureau De Change operator and armed robberies. Efforts are ongoing to track down other gang members.

The FCT Police Command has assured residents of its commitment to ensuring safety and security, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
