TRADOC Commander Tasks Participants to Develop Innovative Approaches to Tackle Insecurity

The Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, has emphasised the need for the Nigerian Army (NA) to continuously review and refine its doctrines and training programmes to align with contemporary joint and multinational operational requirements.

Maj Gen Aligbe stated this at opening of the 2025 Department of Doctrine and Combat Development In-House Study Period at the Headquarters TRADOC NA Auditorium, Minna on Monday 17 March, 2025.

He stressed the significance of doctrinal development in enhancing the operational effectiveness of the NA, noting that the ongoing transformation within the force is a deliberate and systematic effort aimed at ensuring adaptability to emerging security challenges.

While highlighting the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) Command Philosophy, General Aligbe reiterated the vision of consolidating the NA’s transformation into a well-motivated and combat-ready force capable of executing its constitutional responsibilities within joint and multi-agency environments.

He said the study period with the theme *”Enhancing Capacity Building for Doctrinal Development: Strengthening Nigerian Army Training and Operations in a Joint Environment,” provides a strategic platform for officers to assess, refine, and propose innovative solutions to contemporary security threats.

The Commander TRADOC urged participants to actively engage in discussions and challenge existing norms where necessary to enhance operational effectiveness.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede for his unwavering support and visionary leadership which according to him has been instrumental in driving the Nigerian Army transformation process.

Maj Gen  Aligbe encouraged  participants to contribute meaningfully to the discussions to develop doctrines that are both relevant and responsive to the evolving security landscape.

Earlier, the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, TRADOC, Major General Jamiu Jimoh, described the study period as a crucial milestone in refining strategies and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the NA.

Maj Gen Jimoh highlighted the necessity of harmonizing NA doctrines with global best practices to ensure operational efficiency in both conventional and asymmetric warfare.

According to him, doctrine development serves as the cornerstone of military professionalism, providing the framework for effective training, decision-making, and operations.

The two days event is expected to generate insightful deliberations that will shape the future of the Nigerian Army’s training and operational strategies.

The outcomes will contribute meaningfully to strengthening the NA’s capabilities, ensuring it remains a formidable force in the defence of the nation.
