Bandits Kill 2 in attack on Fulani settlement as ECWA pastor regains freedom

A spate of banditry across parts of North-West Nigeria has left two people dead, three others abducted, and a kidnapped pastor joyfully reunited with his family, highlighting both the ongoing insecurity and moments of relief in the region.

Suspected armed bandits attacked a Fulani settlement in Girku village, Rigachikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, PRNigeria learnt.

The assailants, who stormed the residence of one Alhaji Likita, opened fire on residents, killing two young men identified as Ya’u Likita (28) and Abubakar Nagoggo (30). Despite being rushed to the Kujama Primary Health Care Centre, both victims succumbed to their injuries. The attackers also made away with an unspecified number of cattle before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, in a more uplifting development, Zagazola reports that a 30-year-old pastor of the ECWA Church, Samson Ndah Ali, who was kidnapped on April 8 in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, regained his freedom in the morning of April 10. Pastor Ali had been abducted by unknown gunmen who reportedly demanded a ransom of N100 million for his release.

His safe return sparked joy and thanksgiving in Mararaban Abros, where his family, church members, and neighbours gathered in celebration. Children released balloons and women sang hymns as the community rejoiced. Security sources confirmed that he is in good health and resting at home, though it remains unclear whether a ransom was paid.

However, just hours after his return, fresh reports emerged of another attack in Zamfara State. At about 2:30 a.m. on April 10, three individuals were kidnapped by armed bandits in the Marere Hausawa area on the outskirts of Damba in Gusau LGA. According to intelligence sources, the victims were taken to an unknown location.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have intensified operations in both Kaduna and Zamfara States to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted individuals.
