JUST IN: Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the administration.
The nomination has been formally conveyed to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the President in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, setting the stage for Oyedele’s confirmation.
Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko, Ondo State. Before his nomination, he served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which led the overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.

An accomplished economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. In academia, he serves as a professor at Babcock University and as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School.
The nomination signals the administration’s continued focus on fiscal reforms and economic management, with Oyedele expected to leverage his extensive experience in public policy, taxation, and financial governance.
