Police Nab Bauchi Father for Allegedly Impregnating 17-Year-Old Daughter
Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 50-year-old man, Umar Alhaji Sule, for allegedly sexually assaulting his 17-year-old daughter, resulting in her pregnancy.
The incident was reported to the Ganjuwa Divisional Headquarters on April 3, 2025, by Abdullahi Baban Karatu, 55, a resident of Kurmin Ado village in Ganjuwa Local Government Area. According to the complaint, Sule had repeatedly engaged in unlawful intercourse with his biological daughter in November 2024 while his wife was away.

Police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil stated that upon receiving the report, a team of detectives was dispatched to investigate. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting to molesting his daughter on multiple occasions.
Medical examination confirmed that the victim is three months pregnant. The teenage girl, whose identity has been withheld, told investigators that her father took advantage of her when her mother travelled to Burra village in Ningi LGA.
Upon her mother’s return, the pregnancy was discovered, leading to the victim disclosing her father’s actions.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served as the case proceeds.
