IGP Egbetokun Hails Former Police Chief Atta at 88
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt congratulations to former Inspector-General of Police, Aliyu Ibrahim Atta, on the occasion of his 88th birthday.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP described Atta as a towering figure in the history of the Nigeria Police Force whose legacy of discipline, wisdom, and visionary leadership remains a guiding light for generations of officers.
Egbetokun praised the retired police chief for his invaluable contributions to national development and institutional reform, noting that his tenure helped shape the Nigeria Police during a critical period in the country’s evolution.

The police chief further stated that the entire police family joins the nation in celebrating the milestone birthday, praying for continued good health, peace, and fulfilment for the octogenarian.
Aliyu Ibrahim Atta served as Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police from 1990 to 1993, during which he championed professionalism and modernization within the Force.
His leadership is widely credited with laying the groundwork for reforms and institutional growth in subsequent years.
