Security Forces Raid Criminal Hideout, Destroy Bomb Factory, Recover IEDs in Anambra
In a sustained effort to rid Anambra State of criminal elements, a combined team of security operatives on May 24, 2025, launched an offensive onslaught at a notorious criminal camp in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area, successfully destroying a local bomb factory and recovering multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
According to a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out by a joint security team comprising the Nigeria Police, the military, and operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante Group.

The targeted camp, described as one of the last remaining strongholds of a secessionist group operating in the area, had served as a hub for coordinated attacks and criminal activities over the past two years.
The statement noted that during the raid, one of the IEDs buried around the camp detonated, damaging a portion of the road and temporarily hindering the team’s advance. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded during the operation.
“This successful mission is part of the sustained effort to establish security dominance and reclaim the area from criminal elements,” SP Ikenga stated, adding that more security operations are ongoing across the region to dismantle similar threats.
