Retired AVM Ibrahim Umar Assumes Duty as Kano’s Internal Security Commissioner, Calls for Synergy

Retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar officially assumed office today as Kano State’s new Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, immediately calling for robust collaboration among all security agencies to combat the state’s pervasive insecurity challenges.

Speaking to the press shortly after taking up his new role at the ministry headquarters along Maiduguri road, AVM Umar acknowledged his familiarity with security matters but emphasized the critical need for a united front. “We will deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies, community stakeholders, and civil society in building resilient local security structures,” he stated.

The commissioner highlighted the sensitive nature of his new task, asserting that “security is the foundation of all progress.” He pledged to work with integrity and diligence to safeguard the lives and property of the general public.
AVM Umar also expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, for his appointment as commissioner and member of the state executive council. He vowed to remain committed to promoting justice, equity, discipline, and the upliftment of the common man.

Earlier, welcoming the new commissioner on behalf of the ministry’s management, Permanent Secretary Alh. Dan’asabe Yahya pledged unwavering support to enable AVM Umar to discharge his mandate effectively. He also offered prayers for divine guidance in the commissioner’s new role.

Alhaji Kabiru Falaki, a prominent NNPP stalwart in Dala local government, lauded AVM Ibrahim Umar’s appointment as well-deserved, citing his extensive 35-year meritorious service as a versatile military officer. He urged the ministry’s staff to offer their tireless support for the commissioner’s success.

AVM Umar arrived at the ministry premises flanked by hundreds of jubilant NNPP supporters, who chanted political slogans praising his humility and concern for the less privileged.
