New MPB Chairman AVM Abubakar Adamu Pledges to Prioritise Retirees’ Welfare
The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has announced the assumption of office by Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abubakar Adamu as its new Chairman, marking a significant leadership transition aimed at driving reforms and strengthening pension administration for retired military personnel.
According to a press release signed by Squadron Leader Ahmed Mohammed, Public Relations Officer at MPB Headquarters, the handover took place on July 1, 2025, at the Board’s office in Abuja.
AVM Adamu takes over with a wealth of experience in finance, administration, and defence policy. He has held numerous strategic positions within the Nigerian Air Force, including Director of Finance at NAF Headquarters, Managing Director of NAF Investment Limited (NAFIL), and most recently, Group Managing Director of the NAFIL Group of Companies.

He is also a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPAN). His distinguished military career is decorated with honours such as the Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), and Distinguished Service Star (DSS).
In his remarks, AVM Adamu pledged to reposition the Board by introducing reforms that will enhance transparency, ensure timely pension payments, and strengthen record management systems. He reaffirmed his dedication to upholding the trust placed in him by the Armed Forces and the Federal Government.
“I am committed to accountability, efficiency, and improved service delivery to our military retirees,” he stated.
The MPB described the leadership transition as a step forward in its mission to serve Nigeria’s military veterans with dignity, professionalism, and renewed energy.
