OAGF Explains Delay in June Salaries for Some Civil Servants

The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has attributed the delay in the payment of June 2025 salaries for some federal civil servants to a technical issue involving Zenith Bank Plc.

In a statement released by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, Bawa Mokwa, the delay affected workers across several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) whose salary accounts are domiciled with Zenith Bank.

“Following an investigation, it was discovered that the delay was due to a network glitch on the part of the bank, which disrupted the seamless transfer of salaries to the affected civil servants,” the statement read.

The OAGF acknowledged the frustration the situation has caused, especially given the significance of timely salary payments in meeting the daily needs and obligations of public servants.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that prompt steps are being taken to resolve the issue,” Mokwa stated.

He added that the OAGF is working in collaboration with relevant service providers and stakeholders to ensure that the failed transactions are reprocessed as quickly as possible.

“We appeal for calm and understanding from all impacted staff. The welfare of Federal Government employees remains a top priority for the Office, and no effort will be spared in ensuring that everyone receives their due payments,” he said.

In addition to resolving the June salary issue, the OAGF is also committed to clearing the outstanding four-month arrears of the ₦35,000 wage award owed to eligible government workers.

Mokwa reiterated the OAGF’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in its payroll processes, and assured stakeholders of continuous engagement to enhance service delivery.

“Your patience and understanding during this challenging period are greatly appreciated,” he concluded.
