Tinubu Orders Shettima to Accompany Buhari’s Remains Home, Orders Flags at Half-Staff
In a solemn gesture of national mourning, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima to travel to London to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
The directive was issued following the passing of the former leader, whose death has cast a shadow of grief across the country.

President Tinubu, in honoring the late statesman, also ordered that all national flags be flown at half-staff across the country and in Nigeria’s foreign missions, symbolizing the nation’s collective respect and mourning.
“This is a mark of respect for the departed leader who served our country with dedication,” the President stated.
Further details regarding the funeral arrangements and national tributes are expected to be announced by the Presidency in the coming hours.
Late President Buhari served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 2015 to 2023, and earlier as a military ruler from 1984 to 1985, earning a legacy that continues to stir diverse reflections across the nation.
