Police Commence Disciplinary Proceeding Against 151 Senior Officers

In a renewed effort to strengthen internal discipline and uphold professional standards, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers over alleged misconduct and ethical violations.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officers, ranging from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and above, are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The review sessions, which began on Monday, July 14, are scheduled to run through Friday, July 25, 2025.

The Force Disciplinary Committee serves as a critical internal mechanism tasked with reviewing and adjudicating disciplinary cases involving senior officers. The affected personnel were drawn from various commands and formations across the country. Each case will undergo a transparent and thorough examination in line with existing police regulations, with final recommendations to be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for appropriate action.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, stressing the importance of ethical conduct within the ranks of the police.

“The Nigeria Police Force will not condone any form of misconduct or indiscipline. This disciplinary process is a clear demonstration of our commitment to accountability and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism,” the IGP stated.

He further emphasized that the ongoing internal review underscores the Force’s determination to earn and maintain public trust through integrity and transparency.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, also noted that the exercise aligns with the Police leadership’s vision of fostering a disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented institution.

The Nigeria Police Force continues to position itself as a law enforcement body guided by the rule of law and internal accountability.
