IPRA Celebrates 70th Anniversary, Hosts 2025 Golden World Awards in Ghana
The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) has announced that its 2025 Golden World Awards (GWA) for Excellence and Gala Dinner will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana.
In a statement signed by IPRA Secretary General Philip Sheppard, the prestigious event will commence at 7:15 PM and will mark a triple celebration: the recognition of outstanding PR campaigns from around the world, the 70th anniversary of IPRA, and the inauguration of the 2026 IPRA President.
The Spokesperson Digest reports that the Gala Dinner will bring together award winners, IPRA members, and invited guests for an evening of celebration, networking, and entertainment, offering a unique opportunity to engage with global industry leaders and members of the IPRA Board.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Accra will also host Ghana’s first-ever Public Relations Knowledge Sharing Conference, which will culminate in the GWA ceremony. The conference is a collaborative initiative of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana, the African Public Relations Association (APRA), and IPRA, positioning Ghana at the center of global PR discourse.
Themed “Global Realities and Innovative Communication,” the three-day conference will take place from October 1 to 3, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. It will be held under the distinguished auspices of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, FIPR, President of the Republic of Ghana.

Key issues to be explored include the evolving intersections of communication, artificial intelligence (AI), and climate change. A vibrant exhibition will also run concurrently, showcasing Ghana’s communication industry, local innovations, and culturally rooted products.
The conference will reach its climax with the 2025 IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence and Gala Dinner at the Mövenpick Hotel Ballroom—marking the first time the global PR community’s most prestigious awards ceremony will be hosted on Ghanaian soil.
A historic milestone will be achieved during the Gala as Ms. Esther A. N. Cobbah, IPRA Board Member and President of IPR Ghana, is formally inaugurated as the 2026 IPRA President. She will become the first African to hold this eminent position in the Association’s 70-year history, a recognition of her distinguished service and contributions to the public relations profession.
To enrich the experience for international delegates, optional guided heritage tours will be available from September 27 to October 7, 2025. Organized by Softlanding in collaboration with IPR Ghana, the curated packages will offer visits to historic coastal castles, traditional craft villages, Kakum National Park, Wli Waterfalls, and in-depth tours of Accra’s cultural landmarks.
The conference is expected to attract a diverse mix of participants, including communication professionals, media executives, government officials, academics, and sustainability advocates, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and collaborative opportunities within the global PR community.
