Again, Police Extend Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement Deadline to October 2

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has again extended the grace period for the enforcement of its Tinted Glass Permit requirement to October 2, 2025.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the new date following what the Force described as a “significant surge” in applications via its official online portal, indicating increased public compliance.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extension is aimed at allowing adequate time for a thorough review of pending applications to ensure that permits are granted only to qualified individuals, in line with national security concerns.

The police said the move would also help in fine-tuning both digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the integrity of the permit system and prevent abuse.

The NPF reiterated that the only authorized application channel is its official platform — https://possap.gov.ng — and warned the public against using unofficial sources. Citizens were urged to report any extortion, hidden charges, or unauthorized processing to the police through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the cooperation of Nigerians and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all,” the statement read.
