His Death is a National Loss, Tinubu Mourns Emir of Zuru
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mourned the death of the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd.), Gomo II, describing his passing as a great national loss.
The late monarch, who died in the early hours of Sunday, was a retired senior military officer and a former military governor of Bauchi State. He also played an active role during the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970).

In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed the late Emir as a patriot, statesman, and traditional leader of uncommon distinction.
“The Emir of Zuru will be remembered not only for his service as a soldier during the Nigerian Civil War but also for his decades of sterling leadership, which brought peace, stability, and development to the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State,” the President said.
Tinubu prayed for the repose of the late Emir’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant comfort to his family, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of Kebbi State during this moment of grief.
