NSCDC: Interior Minister Decorates 22 Newly Promoted ACGs in Abuja

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has charged 22 newly promoted Assistant Commandants General (ACGs) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to justify their elevation with renewed diligence, patriotism, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Correctional and Immigration Services Board (CDFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jubril (Rtd), who represented the Minister, reminded the senior officers that promotion comes with greater responsibility.

“Promotion is a call to responsibility that comes with higher tasks and accountability. As I congratulate you on your new ranks, I urge you to live above expectations and mentor the next generation to sustain the good legacies of the Corps,” he said.

In his remarks, the Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, mni, OFR, congratulated the officers while urging them to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and loyalty in tackling emerging security threats across the country.

Audi commended the Interior Minister’s innovative reforms, which, he noted, have cleared long-standing promotion backlogs in the service. He assured that the Corps would sustain its commitment to personnel welfare, economic stability, and inter-agency collaboration.

The event also featured goodwill messages from retired Major General MK Yunusa, the Controller General of Corrections, and the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who were represented by their deputies. The Oath of Allegiance was administered by Commandant Bamiyo Akomolafe, the Officer in Charge of Legal, Corps Headquarters.

In a related development, the NSCDC Commandant General presented cheques worth ₦5 million to the next of kin of two slain personnel, CCA Anyamele Justice and AIC Bello Bako Musa. The officers were killed in the line of duty during “Operation Plug” at Obiakpu Village, Abia State, on February 25, 2025.

Audi said the gesture underscores the Corps’ commitment to the welfare of its personnel and support for families of those who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.
