CRUSHING BLOW: other Top Boko Haram commanders neutralized in Bita, Wigo
Nigerian forces have neutralized nine Boko Haram terrorists, including two top commanders, in a major counter insurgency operation in Borno State. The operation, conducted by ground troops and the air component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), successfully thwarted attacks on the communities of Bita and Wulgo.

The two commanders, identified as Abu Nazir, the Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, the Munzir of Koloram, were killed during a fierce gunfight at Wulgo on August 22, 2025. This decisive action followed a coordinated military offensive that began on August 21, in which troops repelled the insurgents’ attempts to overrun the communities.
During the operation, troops recovered a significant cache of weapons and equipment, including AK-47 rifles, a large supply of ammunition, and six motorcycles used by the terrorists.
The military high command has since commended the troops for their bravery and resolve, urging them to continue their aggressive campaign to stamp out terrorism in the region.
