Tinubu Reverses NTA Shake-Up, Recalls DG Salihu Dembos, Executive Director of News
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the recall of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mr. Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Mr. Ayo Adewuyi, to continue their tenures in office.
Dembos, who was appointed in October 2023, had briefly vacated his position following recent management changes within the state-owned broadcaster. With the President’s directive, he is to return to complete his three-year term.

Similarly, Adewuyi, appointed in 2024, will resume his role as Executive Director of News to complete his tenure, which runs until 2027.
The decision by President Tinubu also nullifies the fresh appointments earlier announced for the positions of Director-General, Executive Director of News, Executive Director of Marketing, and Managing Director of NTA Enterprises.
The recall, conveyed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, is seen as a move to ensure continuity and stability within the leadership of the NTA.
