“Acting on credible intelligence around 24:00 hours, the mining marshals of the NSCDC stormed the site and arrested the suspects in the act,” Aniviye stated.

The Commandant reiterated the Corps’ resolve to protect Niger State’s natural resources from unlawful exploitation, maintain law and order, and work with other security agencies to curb criminal activities across the state.

“We will continue to make Niger State a difficult terrain for illegal mining, vandalism, and other social vices,” he assured.

Aniviye also commended the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for their support in strengthening peace and stability in the state.
