The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a 35,000-litre industrial borehole in Ohe community, Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, as part of its special intervention projects to support grassroots development and strengthen civil-military relations.
The project, inaugurated on Wednesday, October 16, 2025, was delivered under the Chief of the Air Staff’s (CAS) Special Intervention/Quick Impact Projects (QIP) and is aimed at providing clean and accessible water to residents of the community.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola, said the project underscores the NAF’s commitment to promoting the welfare of Nigerians through people-centred initiatives.
He explained that civil-military cooperation remains a key pillar of national stability, noting that the NAF has expanded its humanitarian footprint in communities nationwide through infrastructure, medical, and educational interventions.
“Civil-military relations are essential to national stability as they foster mutual trust and cooperation between the military and the civilian population,” Abubakar stated. “Our decision to upgrade the Directorate of Civil-Military Relations to a full branch in May 2024 was deliberate — it reflects our recognition of the human dimension of security.”
