A total of 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, have been commissioned as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) after completing five years of intensive academic and professional training.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, commissioned the new officers during a colourful Passing Out Parade (POP) held on Friday at the academy grounds. The graduating cadets also earned Bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines, equipping them with both academic and operational competencies required for modern policing.

In his message, President Tinubu congratulated the new officers and urged them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties. He restated his administration’s commitment to police reforms, improved welfare, and enhanced operational capabilities to strengthen security across the country.

The ceremony attracted an array of dignitaries including Shanta Emily Knowles, Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force; Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf; representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs; members of the National Assembly; heads of security agencies; senior serving and retired police officers; as well as traditional rulers, religious leaders, parents, and well-wishers.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, commended the officers for their discipline and resilience throughout the training period. He reminded them that effective policing is anchored on character, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to producing highly trained and professional personnel capable of addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The statement was signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on behalf of the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
