NAF to Deepen Air Power Capability as CAS Aneke Reaffirms Welfare-Driven Warfare in Makurdi

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has outlined a renewed course for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), reaffirming a strategy anchored on air power readiness and personnel welfare during his maiden operational visit to the Tactical Air Command (TAC) in Makurdi.

During the visit, Air Marshal Aneke emphasized that his newly unveiled Command Philosophy aims to position the NAF as a highly professional, motivated, and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive air power effects in support of national security. He commended the efforts of TAC personnel, noting their critical role in ongoing operations nationwide.

“Your contributions to Operation WHIRL STROKE and our other operational theatres show that Tactical Air Command is indispensable to our mission. Your courage and professionalism inspire confidence across the country,” he said.

The CAS also charged personnel to maintain heightened readiness, stressing that Nigeria’s evolving security landscape requires sustained vigilance and operational tempo. He highlighted the need for top-tier aircraft serviceability, weapons readiness, and personnel proficiency to retain the initiative in contemporary security operations.

Reiterating his policy of Welfare for Enhanced Warfare, Air Marshal Aneke described welfare as a strategic enabler of effective air operations. He assured that the NAF hierarchy will continue to prioritise improved living conditions, prompt payment of allowances, and enhanced administrative and medical support for personnel.

Responding, the Air Officer Commanding TAC, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, pledged full alignment with the CAS’s renewed vision, stating that personnel under the command remain motivated and committed to delivering decisive air power across all operational theatres.

Air Marshal Aneke concluded by reaffirming his determination to strengthen the NAF into a force that is agile, innovative, and fully capable of meeting Nigeria’s security challenges. “Together, we will build a force capable of delivering air power effects wherever the nation requires,” he added.

The visit reinforces the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to readiness, professionalism, and the welfare of its personnel.
