NAF Confirms Safe Landing of C-130 Aircraft in Banjul En Route to Portugal
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 transport aircraft undertaking a ferry flight for scheduled depot maintenance has landed safely in Banjul, The Gambia, en route to Portugal.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NAF said the aircraft touched down in Banjul after transiting Accra, Ghana, in line with an updated flight plan that also includes routing through Casablanca before final arrival in Portugal. The Service stressed that the movement complies with established aviation safety procedures governing ferry flights for aircraft programmed for maintenance.
According to the Air Force, the aircraft remains serviceable and all personnel on board are safe. It explained that ferry flights are required to operate through designated airfields, with movements appropriately spaced to ensure safety and operational efficiency.

The update was signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
“The Nigerian Air Force confirms that its C-130 aircraft, which earlier made a precautionary landing during a ferry flight, has successfully continued its journey and landed safely in Banjul, The Gambia. All personnel are safe and the aircraft remains serviceable,” the statement said.
The NAF also expressed appreciation to host authorities in Ghana and The Gambia, as well as other countries overflown, for the cooperation and support extended to the crew during the flight. It further acknowledged the concern and goodwill shown by Nigerians following reports of the aircraft’s earlier precautionary landing.
Reassuring the public, the Air Force reiterated its commitment to the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all operations, noting that the ongoing ferry flight is part of routine maintenance procedures aimed at sustaining fleet airworthiness and operational readiness.
