The Nigerian Army has said it is seeking to deepen cooperation with the United States Army to enhance its operational effectiveness and institutional capacity in the face of Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja while receiving the United States Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Lt. Col. Semira Moore, on a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters.
Shaibu commended the United States Government for its longstanding partnership and support to the Nigerian Army, noting that the collaboration has continued to yield tangible benefits, particularly in training and professional development.
He said several senior officers of the Nigerian Army, including himself and some Principal Staff Officers, are alumni of renowned United States military institutions, a development he described as evidence of the depth and impact of the bilateral military relationship.
