Tinubu Dispatches Shettima-Lead FG Delegation to Kano Over Singer Market Inferno
Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to lead a high-powered Federal Government delegation to Kano following the devastating fire outbreak at the Singer Market.
The visit comes on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who mandated the delegation to convey the Federal Government’s sympathy and support to traders affected by the inferno.
According to a State House press statement issued on Sunday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the delegation will depart Abuja to commiserate with victims who reportedly lost goods worth billions of naira in the weekend blaze. The fire incident, which occurred on Saturday evening and continued into Sunday morning, marks the second outbreak at the market within two weeks.
Singer Market, regarded as one of Nigeria’s largest food markets, suffered extensive destruction, with numerous shops and goods razed.
