Joint Security Forces Raid Militants Camp, Destroy Multiple IEDs in Imo Offensive
Joint security forces have escalated offensive operations in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, leading to the recovery and destruction of multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a coordinated operation targeting criminal elements.
Security sources disclosed that the operation, conducted at approximately 9:30 a.m. along the Eketutu–Uda community axis, involved troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade working in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

During the operation, troops initially discovered and safely detonated an IED along the Eketutu Market–Uda axis. Subsequent advances in the area led to the discovery of eight additional explosive devices, which were carefully disarmed and recovered by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
All recovered IEDs were later defused and destroyed at the scene to eliminate any risk to both personnel and civilians.
Further exploitation of the area led to the identification of a suspected hideout. A thorough search of the location yielded six live cartridges, three batteries believed to be components for IED fabrication, a black face mask, and an unserviceable handheld radio.
Sources indicated that the operation remains ongoing, with security forces sustaining pressure on suspected militants and criminal networks operating within the area.
The latest offensive forms part of a broader, sustained campaign by security agencies to dismantle insurgent infrastructure, neutralise threats, and restore stability across Nigeria’s South-East region.
