Army Justifies Arrest of Social Media Influencer Over Alleged Incitement of Soldiers
The Nigerian Army has clarified the circumstances surrounding the arrest of social media influencer Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” citing concerns over alleged incitement and potential threats to military discipline and national security.
In a statement issued on May 2, 2026, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, said the Army’s attention was drawn to complaints reportedly made by some soldiers regarding feeding and welfare issues. The grievances were shared on social media through Chidiebere, prompting an internal review.
According to the Army, preliminary findings indicate that the influencer engaged the soldiers in discussions that extended beyond welfare concerns, allegedly encouraging discontent within the ranks. The statement further noted that some exchanges between Chidiebere and the soldiers bordered on subversive communication.
