Operation Hadin Kai Debunks Viral Claims of Poor Feeding Among Troops
The Theatre Command of Operation Hadin Kai in Nigeria’s North East has refuted allegations circulating on social media that troops deployed in the region are poorly fed, describing the reports as misleading and inconsistent with established welfare standards.
In a statement issued by the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), the Command said it conducted a detailed internal review following the emergence of images and narratives suggesting inadequate feeding of personnel. The findings, it noted, showed that the claims did not accurately represent the feeding arrangements within the theatre of operations.
According to the Command, troops across all formations under Operation Hadin Kai receive rations in line with approved military feeding scales. It added that provisions are consistently implemented and, where operational conditions allow, enhanced during festive periods such as Sallah and Easter to improve morale.

The statement further explained that the feeding system is structured and transparent, managed through Food Committees made up of personnel from different ranks and supervised by senior non-commissioned officers. This framework, it said, ensures accountability and active participation in meal planning, preparation, and distribution within available logistical resources.
During the review, the Command identified a specific incident involving a soldier who allegedly circulated an image of a partially consumed meal to create a false impression of poor feeding conditions. Investigations, according to the statement, confirmed that the image did not reflect the full ration provided at the time.
The personnel involved has since been sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the Armed Forces Act (Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004), the Command said, adding that the disciplinary action was necessary to maintain order and uphold the integrity of the Armed Forces.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of troops and the enforcement of discipline, stressing that it remains focused on sustaining operational effectiveness in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in the North East.
