INEC to Resume Final Phase of Voter Registration Nationwide May 11
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to commence on May 11, 2026.
The Commission disclosed that the exercise, which marks the concluding phase of the current registration cycle, will run until July 10, 2026, providing another opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of future elections.
INEC noted that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable the Commission to clean up the voters’ register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.
According to the Commission, citizens who have recently attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during earlier phases, are encouraged to take advantage of the exercise.

The Commission also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct personal details to utilise its online portal or visit INEC offices at the state and local government levels nationwide.
As part of the statutory process, INEC said the updated Register of Voters would be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026. The exercise is intended to allow citizens to make claims and raise objections, thereby enhancing the credibility and accuracy of the register.
INEC assured Nigerians that adequate arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent process, while urging all eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
