Troops Repel ISWAP Attack on Magumeri Base, Neutralise Scores
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on the Forward Operating Base in Magumeri, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents and recovering weapons during a fierce gun battle.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the terrorists attempted to infiltrate the military base under poor visibility conditions.
Military authorities said although the attackers recorded minor breaches in an isolated section of the camp, troops responded swiftly and decisively, successfully containing and defeating the assault.
A statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said further exploitation of the area revealed extensive blood trails, dragged bodies and recovered corpses of terrorists, indicating heavy casualties suffered by the attackers.

The military, however, confirmed that two soldiers were killed during the encounter, while an officer and other wounded personnel are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition.
Some military equipment and temporary structures were also damaged by fire during the intense exchange of gunfire.
Troops are currently conducting follow-up exploitation operations in the area to consolidate gains from the encounter and assess further battle damage.
The military high command commended the troops for their performance and urged them to sustain the operational momentum against terrorist groups operating within the North-East theatre.
