Troops Eliminate Terrorists, Recover Arms in Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded another operational success against terrorists operating in Zamfara State, neutralising three insurgents and recovering arms and ammunition during a fighting patrol operation.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Thursday across Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas as part of ongoing military efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and restore security within the North West region.
According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops encountered armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village during the patrol operation.
The statement disclosed that a fierce gun battle ensued, during which the troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat after suffering heavy casualties.

During the operation, troops successfully neutralised three terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.
The military further confirmed that no casualty was recorded among the troops involved in the operation.
The Joint Task Force noted that the latest operational success reflects the commitment, resilience, and professionalism of troops engaged in ongoing counterterrorism and anti-banditry operations across the North West.
The theatre command also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to enhance ongoing operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and the wider North West region.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA is one of the major military operations currently targeting terrorist and criminal networks operating across parts of the North West.
