MNJTF, OPHK Brainstorm on Strategies to Crush Terrorism in North-East, Lake Chad
The Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force, Major General Saidu Audu, on Tuesday visited the Headquarters of Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri, Borno State, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and deepen joint counter-terrorism operations in the North-East and Lake Chad region.
The operational visit focused on enhancing synergy between the MNJTF and Operation HADIN KAI in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency across the region.
During the engagement, the Force Commander received a comprehensive operational briefing on the activities and achievements of Operation HADIN KAI, followed by an interactive session with senior military officers on strategic operational issues.
Major General Audu said the visit was aimed at brainstorming and generating fresh operational ideas capable of strengthening ongoing military offensives against terrorist groups operating within the region.
He stressed the need for sustained collaboration and deeper jointness between the MNJTF and Operation HADIN KAI, describing coordinated efforts as the most effective pathway to decisively defeat terrorist elements and deny them freedom of action.

The Force Commander further described the MNJTF as a unique multinational military alliance made up of troops from contributing nations working collectively to restore peace and security within the Lake Chad Basin.
While commending the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI for the warm reception accorded him and members of his entourage, Major General Audu praised the operational successes recorded by troops in the North-East, noting that the efforts had significantly degraded insurgent activities in the region.
Earlier in his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, described the visit as timely and strategic, expressing confidence that it would further enhance the operational effectiveness of both formations in addressing security threats affecting the region.
He reaffirmed Operation HADIN KAI’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the MNJTF in combating terrorism and insurgency while safeguarding lives, property, and socio-economic activities within the North-East and the Lake Chad development corridor.
The visit was attended by senior military officers from both formations, including the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu; Deputy Force Commander MNJTF, Brigadier General Ndjonkep Frederic; Chief of Staff to the Theatre Commander, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed; component commanders, field commanders, and principal staff officers.
Highlights of the visit included inspection of a Quarter Guard, operational briefings, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ register, and a group photograph session.
