Troops Rescue Abducted Women, Children, Arrest Terrorists Collaborators in North-East
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have rescued six abducted women and children, reunited them with their families, and arrested suspected terrorist collaborators during ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North-East.
The operations, conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY, were part of intensified military efforts aimed at dismantling Boko Haram/ISWAP networks and restoring security in the region.
According to the military, the rescued victims were freed during a coordinated operation carried out on May 12, 2026, at a suspected terrorist crossing point near Amuda in the Mandara Mountains axis, following actionable intelligence obtained after an air interdiction mission.
The victims—Aisha Musa, 18; Aisha Mohammed, 17; Fatima Yahaya, 20; Saudatu Musa, 4; Garba Mohammed, 5; and three-month-old Mohammed Yahaya—were among residents of Ngoshe community abducted during a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on March 3, 2026.
Military authorities disclosed that the rescued civilians received immediate medical attention at a military medical facility before being reunited with their families through the Bulama of Ngoshe community, Mallam Adamu Gunda.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops deployed at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State arrested a 40-year-old woman, Hauwa Bulama, suspected to be linked to terrorist elements.

Similarly, troops under Sector 2 of OPHK, supported by military intelligence operatives, arrested two additional suspects identified as Bakura, 18, and Adiza, 17, in Damaturu, Yobe State.
