Troops Foil Terror Attack, Recover Arms, Arrest Suspect in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have foiled a planned terrorist attack and recovered arms and ammunition during ongoing counter-insurgency operations under Operation DESERT SANITY/VIGILANT SIEGE in the North-East.
The military disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to the statement, troops uncovered an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along a route behind the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp near a military location in Ladari.
The device was believed to have been strategically placed by terrorists to target reinforcement teams and military vehicles operating in the area.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists subsequently detonated the IED safely in-situ, with no casualty recorded.
In a related operation, troops conducting strangulation missions along the Ladari riverbanks discovered an abandoned cache of arms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, troops of Sector 3, working in collaboration with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested a suspected terrorist identified as Umar Zacharria, 15, in Gubio town.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was allegedly involved in terrorist activities along the Kareto axis, where motorists have reportedly come under repeated attacks.
The suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation.
The military said the coordinated operations reflected sustained pressure being mounted against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across the theatre of Operation HADIN KAI.
It reiterated its commitment to intensifying ongoing offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, neutralising threats and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability in the North-East.
The military high command also commended troops for their professionalism, resilience and dedication in ongoing operations, urging them to sustain the momentum in the fight against insurgency.
