Troops Rescue 6 Abductees, Eliminate Terrorists in North-East Operations
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have rescued six abducted women and children, neutralised terrorists and arrested a suspected Boko Haram collaborator during sustained counter-insurgency operations across the North-East.
The military said the operations were conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY as troops intensified clearance and offensive missions across parts of Borno and Yobe states.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the six abductees were rescued during an intelligence-led operation along the Amuda–Gava corridor in the Mandara Mountains axis on May 14, 2026.
The rescued victims, all residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, had reportedly been held captive by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
They were identified as Amina Salihu, 52; Aishatu Musa, 50; twin sisters Hassana and Hussaina Abubakar, aged nine; Adamu Zakariyya, 12; and Usman Zakariyya, 10.
The statement said the victims were received by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, before being given medical attention at the Brigade Medical Reception Station.
They were later reunited with their families through the Bulama of Ngoshe, Mallam Bulama Kunda, and the Chief Imam of the community, Mallam Auwalu Hudu.

The brigade commander assured residents that troops would sustain ongoing rescue efforts until all abducted persons were reunited with their families.
The military disclosed that 60 women and children had so far been rescued since the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community.
In a related development, troops of Sector 1 operating in Bazamri village, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, neutralised two Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters during an aggressive clearance operation.
Recovered items included detergent, salt and a carton of spaghetti believed to be part of logistics supplies meant for insurgents.
The military added that no casualty was recorded among troops during the operation, while personnel had since repositioned to sustain offensive pressure in the area.
Meanwhile, troops deployed at the Mainé checkpoint in Yobe State arrested a 30-year-old suspected Boko Haram collaborator identified as Ibrahim Alhaji Julo.
He was intercepted in a red Golf vehicle with registration number KTG-397AA from Bauchi State.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly used the vehicle to transport terrorist elements and facilitate illegal tax collection within communities.
Items recovered from him included a mobile phone and cash, while the suspect remains in custody for further investigation.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, rescuing abducted civilians and restoring peace and security across the North-East.
The military high command also commended troops for their professionalism, resilience and operational successes in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
