UI Honours Kehinde Olaosebikan with Sports Academy Award for Youth Development Support
The University of Ibadan (UI) has honoured a prominent ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Kehinde Olaosebikan, with the “Iconic Friend of the University of Ibadan Sports Academy” award in recognition of his contributions to the establishment and development of the institution’s Sports Academy.
The award was presented on Tuesday at the headquarters of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Kehinde Olaosebikan (PBAT-KO) Grassroots Movement in Olomi, Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan, by a delegation from the university on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale.
Presenting the award, Chairman of the UI Sports Academy, Professor Olufemi Adegbola Adegbesan, said the honour was in appreciation of Olaosebikan’s selfless service and unwavering commitment to the growth of the academy.
“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor K.O. Adebowale, I present this award to Hon. Kehinde Olaosebikan as an Iconic Friend of the Academy in recognition of your selfless service and immense contributions to the establishment of the Sports Academy of the University of Ibadan,” Adegbesan said.

He noted that the university was particularly impressed by Olaosebikan’s commitment to sports and youth development, describing his support as instrumental to the progress recorded in translating the vision of the Sports Academy into reality.
The university delegation also included Professor Nureni Adedayo Adewole and the Secretary of the UI Sports Academy, Dr. Ajijola Oluchi Mullie.
Responding, Olaosebikan, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Midas Communications Limited, expressed gratitude to the university’s management for the recognition, describing the award as both humbling and inspiring.
He said his support for the Sports Academy was driven by his conviction that sports remain a critical vehicle for youth empowerment and national development, in line with the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda places emphasis on initiating, supporting and promoting programmes and structures that advance Nigeria’s development, particularly in sports and youth development,” he said.
Olaosebikan pledged to sustain his support for the University of Ibadan’s vision of developing the Sports Academy into one of the leading centres of sporting excellence on the African continent.
The presentation was witnessed by members of the PBAT-KO Grassroots Movement and other stakeholders from across Oyo State.
