Military Neutralizes Fleeing Bandits in Zamfara Forest
Nigerian troops conducting sustained clearance operations in Zamfara State have engaged fleeing armed bandits in a fierce gun duel within the Tsilligidi forest axis, with several of the suspects reportedly neutralised during the encounter.
Security sources confirmed that the ongoing operation was launched from Bukuyum town following actionable intelligence on the movement and regrouping of armed criminal elements within the forest corridor.

According to the sources, the advancing troops came under indirect awareness of bandit presence after gunfire was detected in the area, prompting heightened movement by the criminal elements who attempted to escape through bush paths linking Kundubu and Gizazz villages.
The fleeing suspects were subsequently intercepted by the troops, resulting in a sustained exchange of fire. Several of the bandits were reportedly killed during the confrontation, while others managed to escape with suspected gunshot injuries into surrounding vegetation.
The operation forms part of broader intensified military offensives aimed at dismantling entrenched bandit strongholds and restoring security across vulnerable communities in Zamfara State.
Security sources added that pursuit and area clearance operations are ongoing as troops continue to track fleeing elements and secure the affected locations.
